THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS

MESSAGE: For August 21, 2024

TOPIC: THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS (Part 2/2)

Main Scripture: Philippians 2:9-11; (NKJV): “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Supporting Scriptures: John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:13, 2Corinthians 5:17, Psalms 91:14-15, Matthew 28:18, Proverbs 18:10, John 16:33, Act 3:6, Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 147:3, Isaiah 9:6 (NJKV).

Our main scripture found in Philippians 2:9-11 teaches us that the name of Jesus is not just a label; it signifies His supreme authority and power bestowed by God. The name of Jesus holds the healing power to restore our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. No matter how we choose to call on Jesus, it is important to do so with sincerity and faith. When we genuinely seek Him, He will respond and meet us where we are to offer comfort, guidance, healing, and transformation.
Jesus’ name is the gateway to salvation. Through faith in Him and calling on His name, we receive the gift of eternal life and reconciliation with God. His death on the cross already paid the penalty for our sins.
Demons tremble at the sound of His name, and by calling on Jesus, we can experience freedom and victory over spiritual oppression. In times of danger or chaos, His name acts as a shield and refuge, providing safety and peace amidst the storms of life.

In this message, we will uncover three profound truths about the power in the name of Jesus.

1)The Name of Jesus Offers Salvation and Eternal Life
John 14:6 (NKJV): – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'”
The name of Jesus is the gateway to salvation and eternal life. Acts 4:12 declares, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This powerful truth emphasizes that salvation can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ and calling on His name.
By believing in Jesus and confessing His name, you receive the gift of eternal life and reconciliation with God. This profound act of faith transforms our lives, offering us hope, peace, and a future secured in Him. Romans 10:13 promises, “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” This assurance motivates us to rely completely on Jesus for our salvation, trusting in His power to save us from sin and grant us eternal life with Him.
To be saved through the name of Jesus Christ, you must first acknowledge your need for salvation and believe in the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross. John 14:6 underscores that Jesus is the exclusive path to God and eternal life. By confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you enter into a new relationship with God, secured by His grace and love.
When you accept Jesus into your life His name becomes a source of continuous transformation and empowerment. The name of Jesus brings forgiveness of sins, making you a new creation in Christ. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
This transformation leads to a life filled with the Holy Spirit residing in you to guide, comfort, and empower you to live according to God’s will.
Through faith in His name, we receive eternal life, forgiveness of sins, and a new identity as God’s children. Let us call on the name of Jesus with sincere hearts and confidence, embracing the fullness of His salvation and living in the power of His transformative grace.

2)The Name of Jesus Provides Protection and Deliverance
Psalms 91:14-15 (NKJV): “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.”
The name of Jesus serves as a stronghold and a shield against the forces of darkness. Philippians 2:10 reminds us that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” This verse underscores the supreme authority and power of Jesus’ name over all creation, including spiritual adversaries.
In times of danger, turmoil, or spiritual oppression, calling on the name of Jesus brings immediate protection and deliverance. The forces of evil tremble at the mention of His name, and by invoking Jesus, we can experience victory over any form of spiritual bondage.
When we call upon the name of Jesus, we are invoking the authority and power that comes with it. Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 28:18, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” This means that when we use His name, we are accessing the same authority that can command angels, heal the sick, and rebuke demons.
When we find ourselves in situations of peril, be it physical danger or emotional distress, the name of Jesus acts as a refuge. Proverbs 18:10 states, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” This illustrates that His name is not just a symbol but a fortress that provides safety.

Life often brings storms and challenges that threaten our peace. However, invoking the name of Jesus can calm these storms. In John 16:33, Jesus says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” His name carries the power to bring peace and comfort even in the midst of chaos.

Whatever you are going through today, know that the name of Jesus is your stronghold. Speak His name over your problems, your fears, and your spiritual battles. The name of Jesus has the power to protect, deliver, and transform every situation. Remember, at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord.

3)The Name of Jesus Brings Healing and Restoration
QAct 3:6 (NKJV): “Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.'”
The name of Jesus carries the divine power to heal and restore both physical and emotional ailments. Throughout the New Testament, we witness numerous accounts of miraculous healings performed in His name. For instance, in Acts 3:6, Peter declares to a lame man, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” The man is immediately healed, demonstrating the profound power embedded in Jesus’ name.
Calling on Jesus with sincerity and faith opens the door to His healing touch. Whether we are facing physical sickness, emotional wounds, or spiritual struggles, invoking His name can bring restoration and wholeness. As believers, we are encouraged to approach Jesus in prayer, believing in His ability to heal and restore. By doing so, we experience His transformative power in our lives.
The name of Jesus is not only a source of salvation but also a source of complete healing. Isaiah 53:5 proclaims, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” This verse underscores the completeness of the healing available through Jesus—spiritual, emotional, and physical.
He is our Healer, Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. In the Gospels, we see Jesus healing the blind, the lame, the lepers, and even raising the dead. His name holds the same power today. When we call upon Jesus with faith, we tap into this healing power, trusting that nothing is impossible for Him.
The power of Jesus’ name extends to every area of our lives. Emotional wounds that have festered for years can be healed, and the broken-hearted can find solace and restoration. Psalm 147:3 assures us, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” His name brings comfort in times of sorrow, peace in times of anxiety, and strength in times of weakness.
Jesus is also known as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). In His name, we find peace that surpasses all understanding, calming the storms in our lives and restoring our souls. His name provides a refuge, a place of safety and security where we can find rest and renewal. The name of Jesus is a powerful, all-encompassing source of healing and restoration. It transcends our understanding, bringing miraculous changes and profound peace.
